Races

Compete with the club

Take part in multisport events

The club helps members prepare, travel and take part together

Taking part

Racing is optional

You do not have to enter races to be part of the club. For members who want to compete, we attend a mixture of university championships and other events during the year.

Some members are aiming for a result. Others are completing the distance for the first time. Travelling, preparing and racing together makes events more manageable, particularly when you are new to triathlon.

What we race

Triathlons and other events

The club attends a mix of multisport events each year

Triathlon

Triathlon handily combines all three club disciplines (funny that!) into one race. Distances range from shorter sprint events to longer standard-distance races.

Duathlon

A run, bike and, second run. Come to our GIAG Duathlon - Date and Time TBC. We also enter BUCS Duathlon each November.

Aquathlon

A swim followed by a run. Aquathlons are an accessible way to race if you don’t have a bike. We normally enter Birmingham Aquathlon in February.

Questions

Race FAQs

Open a question for more detail.

Is racing only for experienced members?

No. The suitability of a particular race depends on its distance, format and entry requirements, but many members complete their first multisport event with the club.

Do I need my own tri suit?

Not necessarily. Club tri suits may be available, subject to sizing, availability and the current borrowing arrangements.

How do I enter?

Entry arrangements differ between races. Some events use individual entry, while university competitions may be coordinated through the club. Follow the instructions published for the specific event.

Does the club arrange transport?

Sometimes. Shared transport may be organised for selected club races, but this depends on the event and the number of members attending.

Can I come along without racing?

This depends on the event and transport arrangements. Supporters and volunteers may be welcome, but check with the committee before making plans.
